Even the most complex organisms on Earth are made up of simple cells. Inspired by Life, this design utilises the idea of simple building blocks to create shapes of various complexities and styles. Whether you want to create a perfect reading lair or create something unique – the sky is the limit when it comes to MICRO. This design allows you to weave light around your lifestyle rather than the other way around, which accentuates LG’s Human Centric Care and Empathy design philosophy.
SPIN
SPIN allows the users to change the lighting environment to the way it suits them. The design consists of two rotating rings, where OLED strips are fitted. By spinning the rings, the lighting can be directed anywhere in the room.
SPIN was inspired by the geometry of Earth and the cyclical nature of LIFE. Our lives are built entirely around the concept of time, which has a cyclical nature due to the circular movement of our planet. This design can be used to create limitless lighting variations due to its adjustability, however, the movement trajectory will always remain a sphere. This represents the way we might imagine ourselves to be in control of our lives, but in reality, everything is determined by the circular movement of Earth around the sun.
The adjustable lighting angle feature accentuates the human centric care and empathy provided by the design. Moreover, this design showcases the properties unique to OLEDs, namely flexibility, the lightness of the OLED strips, as well as the thinness of the intricate lighting solution. SPIN can also be easily integrated into our modern day lifestyle, as its minimalistic style is suitable for a variety of settings. Whether it be above the dining table or in the living room, SPIN will create a comforting environment for its users.
